IdleWatt is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

We may also participate in other affiliate programs from time to time, including direct programs from manufacturers and third-party affiliate networks. When we use an affiliate link, the price you pay is the same — there's no markup. The program pays us a small commission on qualifying purchases, typically 1–4% of the sale.

What it does not influence

Affiliate revenue does not influence which products we recommend. We do not accept payment, free samples, or any other consideration in exchange for coverage or favorable mentions. If a product is the right answer for a use case, we'll recommend it regardless of whether the manufacturer has an affiliate program. If it's the wrong answer, we won't recommend it even if the commission is high.

We deliberately do not gate our content behind affiliate links. Every recommendation is presented in full whether or not you click through to buy.

What it does influence

We're more likely to write about hardware that's broadly available — not because we get paid more, but because content about a product nobody can buy is content nobody can use. This means we cover more Amazon-available mini PCs and NAS units than obscure boutique hardware that may be technically excellent but commercially scarce.
